When Frank woke up one morning in his house,
he went downstairs to discover a time warp
with a sign that said "made by a hacker".
Even his whole family encouraged him to go through the time warp.
Frank went to the computer and open his email box;
It was some sort of strange email from a hacker
that said

just want to say hi,
I am hacker, I create that time warp for you to go through
see you sometime even if you do not go through time warp
yours mike

Frank sent email to all his friends
asking if he should go through the time warp.
They all say "yes".

So frank decided to go through the time warp.


Frank travels back in time through the time warp.
Frank visits a castle. The knights were playing catch and throw with laptop
computers
and many knights roll over a car, Frank went in inside the castle
and Frank see weight lifters lift on a car and juggers juggling laptop
computers.
Frank asked them "why are jugging expensive laptop computers?",
they said "well, because its cool to juggle new technology and we don't care if it breaks
since russ pays for it all".
Frank asked them "why are lift such heavy cars",
they said "well, we like boost how strong we are".

Frank walked around town and met someone who told him how they got
the car inside the castle.
He said "well they tore down the wall using the car outside and some hammers,
they move the car through the hole in the wall, rebuilt the wall
while they rode on top of the car inside the castle, they reuse
the broken bricks to rebuild the wall".


Frank look around town, Frank saw a computer store and a car store. The
car store had a factory where it made cars on demand and people
could visit the computer store. It also had a factory.
Frank walked in to the car store and he asked "how did you build the
car store in the middle ages", they said "well they drove a car through
the time warp and the people build the car store and factory".
Frank walked in computer store and ask how did you build the computer
store,
someone said "well they hacked and made a time warp and they wrote a program to build the computer store, meet my hacker ".
Frank walked to meet the hacker.
The Hacker said "hi my name is mike", frank said "hi my name is frank"
Mike said "well I hack into many things,
I hacked into internet websites like yahoo.
I hacked into yahoo and put some links to my home page
that said 'hacking is cool, come to my home page'.
I hacked into yahoo news and I put a web page on yahoo news saying
'why hacking is cool', the link and the article lasted only for a day
then the webmaster got rid of both links and the article about hacking".
Mike continued
"I once hacked a bunch of web sites and wrote a article about
how to send spam and put it there, but then people were outraged at the
spam article, The webmasters of those sites were the ones who was
really outrage about this, they did not want any more people sending junk
mail.
They got together and told each other about it
so then all the articles disappear in one day.
The only copy that exists today on the web is the one on my home page.
People even want that last copy removed and send me email asking to
remove it. but I just ignore these emails".
Mike asked someone "what is the best computer for hacking?".
Someone said back "I don't know, computers are not design for hacking".
Mike led me into his time warp.

Back to the modern times in his house,
Mike saids "welcome to my house, I know it's bit wierd, but thats ok"
Mike led me into his bedroom,he saids "welcome to my bedroom, I know It is a total mess".
He continued "this is my desk and that's my desktop computer,
I know there are soda bottles lying on my desk.
I drank all that soda to stay awake while I hack away".
Mike said "I spend 16 hours every day hacking into other people's websites.
I am the best hacker in the whole world maybe in the universe.
I hack into very secure web sites ".

Frank said "Can you spend some time working on open source projects?".
Mike said "why bother?, I do not want to take time away from hacking".
Frank said "working on open source projects is a good use of the time".
Mike said "but spending the time hacking and doing something you
enjoy is a good use of the time".
Frank and Mike argued which is a better use of time, programming or hacking.
Frank was trying to think of someway to convince Mike to do open source programming.
Then frank thinks "forget it right now, I will figure it out later".
Mike the hacker says "do you want to see how weird my house is?", frank answered "yes".
Frank and Mike walked around the house.
They go to the living room, the sofa is on the ceiling, the chairs are on
the
ceiling, the table is on the floor.Frank say "that's really weird, why
would you want to put the sofa and the chairs on ceiling"
Mike said "watch me walk on ceiling",
Frank said "that’s impossible to walk on the ceiling".
Mike said "watch" and the hacker put on magnetic shoes and magnetic gloves.
and he walk on the ceiling he said "come with me, walk on the ceiling"
you "no thank you I do not want walk on the ceiling
Mike show me his kitchen. the refrigerator was
a chest of drawers with many fans inside.
He said "yep, I want build my own strange refrigerator, so I did build it",
Next he show me his book case.

Then mike wented outside to show me his 3d maze
mike said "here is the maze, it is big so you have to figure out how go from one end to the other end, also it is solar powered meaning it gets its power
from the sun and uses it for the lights inside".

Mike said "did you know that I write mostly in assembly and machine language?"
Frank said "won't It will be better to write in higher level language like C?"
Mike said "I like assembly and machine language because it lets you do
anything you want to do and sometimes you need to use assembly
when you are hacking"

Mike said "here is a another fact, I remember every machine instruction
and assembly keyword. I memorized assembly and machine language long time
ago, now today I can program in assembly and machine language without looking at any documenation about assembly or machine language".
Frank said "wow, you can memorized every machine instruction".
Mike said "one time I made changes to windows using machine language,
here are some of changes I made;
I made the buttons in the windows look like circles instead of rectangles,
I add a button that had the letter M on it
to the title bar of Every window,
that small button with the letter M brings up window with
the title that saids 'mike’s options'.
I add something called mike’s options that also brings up the same window to the title menu.
I also change the start button to say mike
And add mike options to the start menu.

Let me tell you about mike’s options,
Mike’s options let you change to background image,
You can choose a still image or a moving image with the sound playing,
You can make the title bar of every window flash different colors,
You can change the title of the start menu,
You can add new small buttons to the title bar just like the
Button with a M on It and have them run a app,
You can run my games from that dialog box.





I once write a program in assembly language that lets your read and
write to every sector of your hard drive, that means you can read
everything that's on your hard drive.
To write that program I fool around with assembly language and
hack my hard drive at the same time.
I figure out how to do all by myself without looking at the documentation
on the internet.
Frank said "it would be faster if you look at the documentation instead of figuring it out yourself",
Frank said "why you did not look at the documentation?",
Mike said "becuase It is more challenging and more cool if you figure it out yourself".







Mike said "I once write a checkers game in machine language
I Wrote it because I want to see if I could write a game in the
Most difficult language".





Mike said "I will show you the devices I hack"
"my vcr"
"I hack my vcr so I it will record 36 hours on a single tape"

Mike said "how I hack my VCR is I dissemble the VCR
then I take out the chip on, put on some board where you can attach chips
and experiment with the chip. I use the the microscope to look at it.
There is a machine that I used, it adds and removes atoms and can
Change the circuit in the chip".

Frank said "wow, not only change programs without source code
You also change the chips inside any product”

Mike continued "first I spend hours trying figure out where the change
Should be then I go ahead and apply that change with the chip then I put the altered chip back in the VCR".

Frank said "that’s amazing you can alter a chip without breaking the VCR",
Frank said "also I thought It is impossible to change chips",

Mike said "one other thing there is a drawback of fitting 36 hours
on a single tape, the quality of the tape is low, but I don’t mind
quality and I want to save tape space".

One day Mike took Frank to meet his friend Russ who was a spammer.

Frank said "hi Russ"
Russ said "hi, I am a spammer and I also send junk mail"
Russ said "I also have a book case come look at it".
Next he show me his book case

Russ said "I have two stores"
Frank said "what does you two stores sell?"
Russ said "one sells computers and the other one sell cars"
Frank said "cool, do you a website?"
Russ said "yes, I do"
Frank said "what does you website do?
Russ said "well it sells cars and computers"
Russ said "want to see my website?"
Frank said "yes"
They went to computer and went online
Russ said "look, do you see my web site"
Frank said "yes I do"

now mike said "do you know how I made this time wrap?,
well I wrote a computer program to make a time wrap and
I ran it using the control panel in my sercet room.
Then Russ and I build the stores quickly with the help of the computer
and I did you know what?,
what you saw while you was in the middle ages is based on my dream
I once had a dream were there was knights and juggers playing with laptops
and people inside the castle was playing with cars and there was
a car store and a computer store".

Mike said "let me now tell you about my invention.
my invention is a machine that records dreams.
well when you wake up in the morning It tells what dreams you had
it gives a description in words, there is no video
how it works it records and translates brain waves into words
translating brain waves is very complicated, the software is
complicated too.
It was really hard to figure out and It took me 1000 hours
of hacking just figure it out.
I spend another 1000 hours to program it with 10 other people".



Frank was at Mike's home when
Mike said to him "I forgot where my parents live, I forgot the password to my
old email box. but fortunately there are some clues in my house that
could help you find the information out".
Mike say "feel free to look around my house for clues and good luck".
Mike gives frank a notebook to write down the clues.
Frank thought if he meet his parents then maybe he could convinced Mike to
do open source programming.

So Frank went around the house searching for clues.
He found a clue that said look in the living room for a clue to the email
password.
Then he look in living room.
He found one clue that say the first half of the password is in the maze.
He found one other clue that say the second half of the password is on
one of DVDs.
He found a clue that said "look in the bedroom for a clue
that tells the email address".
He look in the bedroom and found a username and domain for the email box,
Also in his bedroom frank found a sign told him the url of mike's game server.



Frank never knew that Mike had a game server before.
Frank said to mike "I heard you have a game server".
Mike said "I do have a game server and check the site out".
Mike said "I wanted people to go to my game server, but I told no one about it and no one came".
Frank ask "if you wanted people to go to your game server why you did not
tell them about your game server?"
Mike said "long time ago I made a game server, I thought people might come to
my site, I want to see if anyone would come to my site after a year but no one came
and I knew that I had to tell people about it for them to come but I was too
lazy to tell them despite the fact I want them to come".
Frank said "why not tell people about your game server right now?".
Mike "I have better things to do like hacking than to tell people about my
game server even if I want people to come".
Frank asked "do you really need to do that?".
Mike said "no, hacking is completely optional, but it is fun".
Frank said "why did you said 'I have better things to do like hacking' when hacking is optional".
Mike said "because I addicted to hacking and its fun".
Frank ask "what kind of hacking to you do?".
Mike said "well, I hack to other websites to see what's there,
I sometimes put a link to my home page on that website".
Mike said "I fool around my computer and change the windows operating
system by programming in machine language".
Mike said "I sometimes hack into other devices like my VCR".
Mike said "I write programs in hard languages like machine language
and assembly language just for challenge of it".



First he want to see if he could find a clue on one of DVDs.
He found a lot of unlabel dvds and did not know which to try.
He need a another clue that will tell him which DVD to try.

Then frank went through the maze to search for a clue to the password.
He found the clue that told the second half of the password and told him
that the maze has several clues.
He went on searching for more clues in the maze.
He found 2 more clues.
The first one that said only one of DVDs with the file mike36.dat have a password.
The second one said try number 3 in the list.


Frank find the second half on one of the DVDs.


Mike showed Frank his game server.
Frank saw a notice that said "do not hack into this server".
Mike played checkers with frank on his game server.
While playing with Frank, Mike said "you can get a clue
if you hack into my game server ".
Frank said "I saw a notice that told me not to hack in to your game server"
Mike said "Ignore that notice and go ahead and hack into my game server,
I actually want people hack in to my game server".
Frank said "as long as the notice is here, no one will hack into your
game server".
Frank said "I am just wondering, why would put a notice telling people not
to hack when you want them to hack your game server?".

Mike said "long time ago put the notice up to make my game server more
professoinal even though I want people to hack into my game server".
Frank said "there, other ways to make your game server more professoinal ".
Mike said "putting up that notice was the easiest way to make
a site look more professoinal".
Frank asked "are your sure that It is ok for my to hack in to your game server?"
Mike said "yes, you are allowed to hack in to my game server".
So Frank hack in to Mike's server with the help of his clues in his notebook.
So Frank found a clue on his server that told him the message's subject and
what folder it is in.



Frank logged in his old email account with success.
The clues he wrote down in his notebook help him log in.

Mike said "I am glad you was be able to log in my email box".
Mike said "let me tell why I forgot my email box and there are clues
everywhere".
Mike said "long time ago, I want to my password to email box to be secret, but
I did not want forget it. So I hid a bunch of clues around the house.
So if I ever want to access it again, I can look at the clues.
Also that email box is the only box that has the phone numbers.
I forgot to save the phone number list somewhere else besides my old
email box.
Then I forgot the password when one day when I want to save the phone
number list
Somewhere I could not get in to my old email box because forgot my password.
I did not want even bother with finding all clues so I forget the phone
list."
Mike said "thank you for finding all these lost clues to my old email box".

Frank look at the phone list and at his clue notebook.
Then he trys number 3 in the list. The clue told him to try 3rd phone number in the list.

So Frank call Mike's parents and the Mike's parents give out the address
over the phone, so Frank and Mike could visit.

One day Frank and Mike visit his parents.
Mike's mom said "nice to see you again Mike, I have not seen you in years."
She said "nice to meet you Frank".
She said "now I give you some codes to make Mike do certain things".
She said "only these codes work, telling him to do same thing without the
codes does not work".
The list of codes goes like this:
RT36 mike will show you his serect room.
PG78 mike will do open source programming.
PM14 mike will switch higher level programming.
QE64 mike will fix his living room meaning he put the sofa.
right side up on the floor.

Back at Mike’s house
Frank said “QE64”
Mike said “guess what, I change my mind about the
living room”,
“I want to put the sofas on the floor right side up”,
“I need you and Russ to move the sofas”.
So Mike called Russ to come over and move the sofas.
So Russ came to his house.
Now Mike, Russ and Frank move the sofas together.
Now finally they are right side up on the floor.

Mike also update his software of his new virtual
reality machine to reflected the change in his
living room.


Mike said I want you and russ to try my new virtual
reality machine that you wear list a vest with gloves.
Well, it shows internet windows from everywhere in the
house and you can surf anywhere in the house.

Frank put the new virtual reality machine on,
and every thing was cover with internet windows.

Frank went downstairs to a room with a table and chairs
and saw a web page on the table and he surf by just touching
the table, He also saw a web page on the sofa.

Russ saw the same thing.


Frank said “PM14”

Mike said “guess what, I will show you and russ my secret room
for the first time”.

So Frank and Russ went onto Mike’s secret room
for the first time.
Inside, there was a complex looking control panel.
Mike said "this is the control room,
it is where is do such amazing things".

Mike said "I made both the time wrap and world where people was jugging laptop
Computers in or near castles with that control panel",
"Watch what it can do",
“right now I am going the change the outside from the
usual neighborhood to landscape with cubes and other shapes”.

So Mike press some buttons on the control panel
and then screen said “landscape change completed”.

So Mike and Russ went outside and the only house they saw
was Mike's house.

They saw all these shapes outside.
Frank said “it so cool to see shapes instead of houses”.

They went back to the control room.
Mike said “next I going to show the time wrap to the middle ages
you saw earlier”,
“I have saved on the hard drive of the control panel”,
“wait a minute”.
So Mike search for it and found it.
Then he press a bunch of buttons,
and a time wrap appear in the control room.

They went though the time wrap,

and they were back in the middle ages.
They were back in the same place as they had been before.
They saw them playing with laptop computers and cars as usual
and say hi to them.
Then they went back in the control room through the time wrap.

Now Mike said "I will now show you a world like the internet".
Mike made a new door to that new world
by pressing a bunch of buttons on the control panel.
Now they went through the door that said Mike's home and had a code on it.
Then they enter a room,
The web links were like doors, the web pictures were on the walls and the tables,
and the text was on table.

Next they went to a board gaming site that had games like chess and checkers.
There were tables and chairs and there were a real board and real 3d pieces on it.

Next they went to online store, it look like a real store.


Then they found a door that said Mike's home but the code was different.
Mike said that's a alternative universe.
When they open the door, they were right, it was a alternative universe
Mike meet the alternative Mike and
Russ meet the alternative Russ.


When Mike talked with the alternative Mike,
alternative Mike told him that he did more hacking than regular Mike

and when Russ talked with the alternative Russ,
alternative Russ told him that he send more emails than regular Russ.

Then they left the alternative universe and went through the these rooms
with tables that had web text and pictures.
Then they were back to the regular universe



Mike went to the control panel and change the outside from a
bunch of cubes and other shapes to back to the usual neighborhood.
He said "welcome back to the regular universe".


Frank said "PM14".
Mike said “guess what I want to learn and use higher level programing languages”.
Mike said "I know C but I don't know java, C# or perl".
So Frank teach Mike how to program in java, C# and perl.
Mike learn it all in 1 day.

Frank said "PG78"
Mike said “guess what, I want work on a open source project now ".
So Mike download GIMP the open source program and work on it.
